Interpreting the music

I've been thinking about the recent focus on tempo changes in our classes. You might like to take a look at Aurora Lubiz and Hugo Daniel interpreting Tres Esquinas played by Angel D'Agostino and sung by Angel Vargas. Ladies who were at the Sunday workshop, you will recognise some of the skills we worked on when you watch Aurora.

The historic footage of "Los dos Angeles" shows this successful musical partnership in action. The music of D'Agostino and Vargas has a beautiful, understated style which "inspires one to move differently ... to express something other than what might automatically come." Techniques for Tangueras

A workshop for followers will be held on: Sunday 24 June at 3 - 4.30pm in the Baptist Hall, Tynte St, North Adelaide. Cost $10. The material will be based on classes I took with women's technique specialists Aurora Lubiz in 2006 and Graciela Gonzalez in 2005 in Buenos Aires. You will take away with you exercises which can be practised regularly to improve your balance, control and elegance. If time permits, we will also look at ways of interpreting the music as a follower. Bring flat-heeled shoes as well as dance shoes. Register by email. Pat
